Hello Donovan,

          To find the value of x first isolate the variable term on one side of the equation. To do this subtract 6 from both the side of the equation. Your equation will look like this

                              -3x + 6 - 6 = -9 - 6

Now the equation will become

                               -3x = -15

Next, divide both side by -3

                               (-3/-3)x = (-15/-3)

You'll get x = 5 (answer)
