There are three problems here from the way you wrote it.
Either the problem is (x+3)/4x = 5/4 (most likely) OR
the problem is x + (3/4)x = 5/4 OR the problem is x + (3/4x) = 5/4
Solution to first (most likely): (x+3)/4x = 5/4
Simplest: Cross Multiply and get 4(x+3) = 5(4x), 4x + 12 = 20x, 16x=12, x = 12/16 = 3/4
Check: (3/4 + 3)/(4(3/4)) = (15/4)/3 = (15/4) (1/3) = 15/12 = 5/4
Another way to solve it is to multiply both sides by 4x since both 4 and 4x divides into 4x.
(4x) times (x+3)/4x = (4x) times 5/4
x+3 = 5x, 4x = 3, x = 3/4
