Notice that the coefficient of x in both equations are the same.  We can subtract eq2 from eq1 to eliminate the x terms.

 

2y = 4

  y = 2

 

Next, substitute the y value into eq1 to solve for x.

 

6x - 2y = 32

6x - 2(2) = 32

6x - 4 = 32

6x = 36

  x = 6
