When the base of the exponents is the same (-X), then all you have to do is add the exponents.
Answer is: (-X)^2+5 or (-X)^7 because (-X)^2 = (-X)(-X)
(-X)^5 = (-X)(-X)(-X)(-X)(-X)
Altogether, you have (-X) multiplied by
Itself 7 times!

(-x)2.(-x)5
= [(-1)(x)]2.[(-1)(x)]5 (-x) is nothing but the product of x and -1.
= (-1)2(x)2(-1)5(x)5 (ab)n = (a)n(b)n ;
Also, recall that (a)n = a * a * a . . . . 'n' times
