If you plug a = 9 into -9a = -60 you get -81 = -60 which is not true so (9,7) is not a solution
If you want to find the solution you would solve the 1st equation for a
a = -60/(-9) = 20/3
and then plug this value for a into the 2nd equation and solve for b
b + 6(20/3) = 4
b + 40 = 4
b = -36
So (20/3,-36) is the solution to the system of equations
