then this fits the pattern of the basic linear equation y = mx + b by just rearranging it to be:
y = -(5/2)x + (1/4)
where "m" (the slope) is -5/2 and "b" (the y-intercept) is 1/4
To graph, start at the y-intercept. Then use the slope to find the next point. Slope is the rise (change in the y-value) over the run (change in the x-value). So -(5/2) means go DOWN 5 and over 2 like this:
