Evaluate the integral, and show all steps. Could someone please help me with this integral please? Thanks!

Pejman P.

Use integration by parts twice to reduce (x-1)^2's power in two steps. At first step choose: (x-1)^2=u and at second step choose:(x-1)=u'.

put u=(X-1)^2, dv=e^-3x; at the second iteration u= x-1. The confusion student usually have in my experience teaching is trying to figure out which of the function to choose as u. use this acronym to know which function to choose as u LIATE, which stands for Log Inverse Algebraic Trig Exponential For example, the problem you are given her has Algebraic function and exponential function. Algebraic function comes first in LIATE, therefore, the Algebraic function as the U. I hopes this helps you solves every other integration by part problem.
