asked 11/01/23advocacy rights
What is the issue that your client identified? Does the client wish you to advocate on their behalf or would they prefer you to support them to advocate for themselves? What strategies did you discuss to achieve the most appropriate outcome for the client? What was the client’s preferred option for meeting their needs? Were you required to negotiate options? What barriers did you come across? How will or were these addressed? What safety or security issues or risks are evident? How will these be addressed? What ongoing support will you provide? What other individuals and/or organisations could support the client advocate successfully? Part B Summarise the outcome of the advocacy process. Identify in your summary whether the client was satisfied with the outcome and if any follow up is required. Part C Reflect on your ability to advocate on a client’s behalf. Write a short reflection, using the below questions as a guide: • Do you feel you satisfactorily represented the client’s rights and wishes? • Do you feel you were able to balance the rights of the client as well as the requirements of the organisation? • Do you think you assisted in the empowerment of the client through this advocacy process? • What did you do well? • What will you do better next time?
