f(x) = (x-1)/(x+4)
has a vertical asymptote x=-4 (set the denominator =0, x+4=0, solve for x)
and a horizontl asymptote at y = 1 (take the ratio of largest degree in numerator and denominator x/x= 1)
an x intercept at x=1 (the point (1,0) set the numerator = 0, x-1=0, solve for x)
a y intercept = -1/4 (the point (0,-1/4) set (x-1)/x+4) = (0-1)/(0+4) = -1/4 = y)
