Import/place bulleted list text to Adobe InDesign

Question

At what point during importing text to InDesign should I add bullets or numbers to a list? Basically, is it better to make the line breaks in the list before or after the import?

Hi Sarah,

I would make the line breaks Indesign - if you do it beforehand sometimes it can import wonky! You want to:

1. Create a text box in Indesign
2. Copy and Paste your text / list into the text box
3. Highlight the text and go to Window > Type Tables > Paragraph
4. In the Paragraph dialogue box, go to the drop down menu and select Bullets and Numbering

Here you can choose the symbol you want, and everytime you make a hard return it will place a bullet.
