On the piecewise function,
For the top piece f(x) = 3x + 2 {x ≤ –3
Its part of the graph will be
a ray starting with a closed circle at the point (–3, f(–3)) = (–3, –7)
and continuing downward to the left with a slope of 3
For the bottom piece f(x) = x +1 {x > –3
Its part of the graph will be
a ray starting with an open circle at the point (–3, f(–3)) = (–3, –2)
and continuing upward to the right with a slope of 1
Focus on
closed circle at (–3, –7)
and
open circle at (–3, –2)
and you should have no problem choosing the correct graph.
