Length of each side of the triangle

Two sides of a triangle have the same length. The third side measures 3 m less than twice the common length. The perimeter of the triangle is 25m. What are the lengths of the three sides?

Let x be the length of one of the two equal sides.

Third side length = 2x-3.

Perimeter equals the sum of all sides, P = x + x + 2x-3 = 25

P=4x-3=25

4x=28

x= 28/4 = 7 meters

2x-3 = 14-3 = 11

The three lengths are

7 meters, 7 meters and 11 meters.
