Deriving with respect to time using the chain rule we
dV/dt = 1/2 π D^2 dD/dt
They gave us D = 9 cm and dD/dt = -0.4 cm/min. Plugging these in we get
dV/dt = 1/2 π (9 cm)^2 * (-0.4 cm/min) = -1/2 π * 81 cm2 * 0.4 cm/min = -16.2 π or
decreasing at approximately 50.9 cm3/min
