The force on a particle is described by 2x^3−5 at a point x along the x-axis. Find the work done in moving the particle from the origin to x=4.

Since a force function is already given it can be assumed that some form of derivation or integration must be performed at some point.

Formula: Work = ∫ F * dx

Integrate the given force function respect to x from 0 to 4 because the problem says the particle is moving from origin to x = 4

∫₀⁴ 2x³ - 5 dx = |(1/2)x⁴ - 5x|₀⁴ = ((1/2) * (4)⁴ - 5(4)) - 0 = 108

The amount of work that is done moving the particle from origin to x = 4 should be 108 Joules
