1) slope=rise/run

    (3-[-1])/(b-4)=2/3

    4/(b-4)=2/3

    cross multiply

    3*4=2*(b-4)

    12=2b-8

    12+8=2b

    20=2b

    b=20/2

    b=10

 

2) (3-b)/(2-[-3])=1

    (3-b)/5=1

    3-b=5

    -b=5-3

    -b=2

     b=-2
