The denominator is 52 for all of these. What varies is the numerator.
A. The card drawn is 3. There are 4 3's in the deck
- P(3) is equal to 4/52 = 1/13
B. The card drawn is the 3 of clubs. There is one of these
- P(3 of clubs) is equal to 1/52
C. The card drawn is a face card (Jack, Queen, or King). 3 card x 4 suits = 12
- P(face card) is equal to 12/52 = 3/13
D. The card drawn is not a diamond There are 3 suits that are not diamonds. 13 cards x 3 suits = 39
- P(not a diamond) is equal to 39/52 = 3/4
