When you see percent you automatically should place the number before over 100. So 5.8/100. In mathematically questions, 'of' means you should multiply. Therefore, 5.8/100 x $25.40 equals 1.4732.

So the tax added is $1.47

Multiply 25.40 by .058 to get your answer. 25.40*0.058 = 1.4732 or $1.47.

You must multiply $25.40 x  .058  =  $1.47.  Remember a percent is LESS than 1,  therefore .058  is 5.8%    You need help with representing a fraction or percentage as a multiplier factor.  UNDERSTAND the question
