Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
integral of x -3/x^.5
= integral of x -3x^-.5
= x^2/2 -3x^.5/.5
= x^2/2 -6x^.5
evaluated from 4 to 9
= 81/2 -6(3) -(16/2 -6(2))
=81/2-18-8+12
=40.5-14
=26.5
= 26 1/2
UNLESS you really meant the integral of (x-3)/x^.5
then
= integral of x^.5 -3x^-.5
= x^1.5/1.5 -3x^.5/.5
= (2/3)x^1.5 - 6x^.5
evaluated from 4 to 9
= (2/3)9sqr9 -6sqr9 - ((2/3)4sqr4 - 6sqr4)
= 18-18 - (2/3)(8) + 12
= 12- 16/3
= 20/3
= 6 2/3
as written
the integral of x-3/sqrx
= the integral of x - (3/sqrx)
and the answer is 26 1/2
but
occasionally parentheses accidentally get left out
so it's possible the problem was supposed to read
the integral of (x-3)/sqrx
then
the answer is 6 2/3
