Hi Bozhi,
Based on the picture, just using the visual vector addition, it is clear that a + b + c is a non-trivial linear combination. Non-trivial simply means the result must be nonzero. In fact, it looks like b+c is equal to a, so in this case we would have a+b+c = 2a which is nonzero since a is nonzero.
