I can't believe you asked this. I was actually one of the detectives on this case. It's such a small world. The UCR actually stopped being used in 2020. It was mainly because the data wasn't accurate, which caused a lot of problems. Some agencies were reporting crimes, while others weren't. Some would report the highest level offense, but not count others. In this case, there were multiple serious felonies. Murder would be the most serious of these offenses, but the kidnapping, or assualt may not have been recorded accurately. The system used now by the FBI is called NIBRS. The National Incident-Based Reporting System. This is much more accurate and helps researchers better understand the data. I hope this helps. Be safe.
