When I was a nursing student I struggled with the concept that the test question will have TWO correct answers and that I would have to figure out which of the two was the best answer according to the situation. It is natural to struggle in nursing school. When I'm teaching concepts to newly graduated nurses in my hospital's nurse residency program I usually see two type if new grads. One who are reallllly great at nursing concepts and textbook information but struggle applying it to direct patient care OR nurses who are superior at applying nursing concepts at the beside but do NOT understand actual concept of why they are doing what they are doing (knowledge deficit).
