A in Algebra 2
There's three main approaches: Synthetic division, long division, and factoring.
Personally, synthetic division is best. Factoring requires a bit of ingenuity
Synthetic Division: First set x-3 = 0, x=3
- So, we have (5 + 12 - 64 - 95 +132)/3
- Drop the first term down, 5. Multiply by 3, then add 12, multiply that answer by 3 and add to -64. Repeat until you get to the last term. The answers you have will be one degree lower than the original polynomial.
- Final answer would be C.
