A box contains orange balls and green balls. The number of green balls is six more than five times the number of orange balls.  If there are 144 balls altogether, then how many green balls and how many orange balls are there in the box?

Let x = number of green and y = number of orange

x + y = 144

x = 5y + 6

So, (5y + 6) + y = 144

Solve for y and x.
