Let f(x)= 6-x2. Find the following:
a) f(7)-f(3)

b) f(3+h)-f(3)

Just plug in and simplify:
a) (-43-(-3))/(7-3) = -10
b) (6-(3+h)2 - (6-32))/h = (-6h-h2)/h = -6-h
You can see that h=4 leads to the answer in (a)
