If 13 is added to a number and the sum is doubled, the result is -5 less than the number. Find the number.

Let x be the number
From the description:
2(x+13) = x - 5
2x +26 = x-5
2x -x = -5 - 26
x = -31
The description is confusing since it says -5 less than the number which would be a different equation:
2(x+13) = x - (-5) = x+5
