This project aims to help you to understand which plan may be suitable for different users. You are required to draw a mathematical model for each plan and then use this model to recommend a suitable plan for different consumers based on their needs.

Assumption: You are to assume that wifi calls are not applicable for this assignment.

Question 1

The following are 4 different plans offered by a particular telco company:

Plan 1: A flat fee of $50 per month for unlimited calls.

Plan 2: A $30 per month fee for a total of 30 hours of calls and an additional charge of $0.01 per minute for all minutes over 30 hours.

Plan 3: A $5 per month fee and a charge of $0.04 per minute for all calls.

Plan 4: A charge of $0.05 per minute for all calls: there is no additional fees.

(a)              If y is the charges of the plan and x is the number of hours spent on calls, what is the gradient and y-intercept of the function for each plan?                        

(b)              Write the equation of the function for each plan.

Plan 1: y = 50 (for all hours)

Plan 2: y = 30 (up to 30 hrs), 0.6x + 12 (past 30 hrs)

Plan 3: y = 2.4x + 5 (for all hours)

Plan 4: y = 3x (for all hours)
