Given:
f(x) = 2e3x
Tangent Line is Parallel to: -6x + y = 9
Find:
Tangent Line to f = T(x) = ?
Solution:
f'(x) = 6e3x
d/dx[ -6x + y ] = d/dx[ 9 ]
-6 + y' = 0
y' = 6
To be PARALLEL, the slopes must be equal
6 = 6 e3x
ln( e3x ) = ln( 1 )
3x = 0
∴ x = 0
f( 0 ) = 2 exp( 3( 0 ) )
∴ f( 0 ) = 2
y - 2 = 6( x - 0 )
∴ T(x) = 6x - 2
I hope this helps! Message me in the comments with any questions, comments, or concerns!

Hi, Thank you for your help! I just have two questions, 1. under "Solution" you written f'(x) = 6e3x does it mean f'(x) = 6e^3x? 2. in the last part where you wrote f(0) = 2 exp (3(0)) what does this mean? what is exp? Thank you for you time!04/23/22
