Passionate about writing, history, and exploring cultures—let’s learn
Writing is an awesome hobby to tap into.
- I think that Google Docs is my personal favorite for writing stories and poems. I find it easier to use than Microsoft.
- Most novels that are 6 X 9 have margins that are 3/4" or (.75") is good.
- I think the length of the novel would need to be based on what you are writing about. Some novels are 250 pages and some are 600. If it is under 40k words it would be considered a novella. Maybe start playing around with a couple of ideas and see from there how long you want your story to be.
- Times New Romans is a good font. Calibri is another good font. Serif and sans serif are both common in novels.
- There is not a hard or fast rule for how many pages you should use. Pages are affected by the font size as well. Just make sure that if you want it to be a novel you do not go under 40k words.
- Yes. Light novels need to have a few illustrations to be considered light novels. It does not have to be many though. Maybe you could find a friend that is good at drawing that could help you if you do not want to try drawing out images.
- The same thing that makes any regular story interesting. The plotline and the characters. Think about the kinds of light novels that you enjoy and what makes you enjoy them.
- As many volumes as you want.
- For any book to be considered a novel it needs a minimum of 40k words. If it has less than 40k words it is considered a novella. It is the same with light novels.
- The Third-person narrative makes more sense in a story with a more complicated plotline. A story that is more focused on the characters and their development might benefit from being in First-person (and you can switch the First-person from different characters). It might be beneficial to consider if you want to focus more on the story, I would go with Third-person. If you want to focus more on the people, I would go with First-person.
It sounds like an exciting idea. Let me know if I can be of any more service to you.
