I was hoping to get some help on knowing how to expand arctan out and getting the first 5 nonzero terms.

You can easily look up the Taylor series for arctan...but if you want to derive it:

∫dx/(1+x²) = arctan x

Do the long division in the integrand, then integrate term by term.
