Route table help

Question

I want to directly connect two computers via crossover cable. 

I want to ensure all data between the two computers goes over the network cards that are directly connected, and not through the switch.

 Each computer has two network cards. 

·Computer A is 172.16.0.20/24, and 172.16.0.22/24. 

Computer B is 172.16.0.30/24, and 172.16.0.32/24. I want direct communication to occur between .22 and .32.

 What route can I add to accomplish this?

Hi Kacee, the type of computer you have may support metrics, which you can add to prefer one NIC over another.

However, you may encounter poor performance because of bridging loops in this network. Without a layer2 algorithm/protocol like spanning-tree running on the PCs as you would on a switch, broadcasts like ARP will start to boomerang across all 4 ports in this subnet, rendering your computers slow or inoperable.

Its a good way to test the performance of the PCs tho!
