149 / 2.99 = x

49.83 rounded = x

That's how much the second bag of apples cost in relation to the first, so:

100 - 49.83 = 50.17

So the second bag of apples has a 50.17% discount.

 

Now we can do the same thing for oranges:

2.49 / 3.99 = x / 100

249 / 3.99 = x

62.41 = x

100 - 62.41 = 37.59

The second bag of oranges has a 37.59% discount.
