Effective, patient, empathic, math and science tutor
suppose n0 have no children, n1 have 1 child, n2 have 2 children, n3 have 3 children etc ...
Then n2 + n3 + .... = 860209
n3 + n4 + .... = 368445
n4 + n5 + .... = 95993
so n2 = 860209 - 368445 = 491764
n3 = 368445 - 95993 = 272352
n2 + n3 = 764116
so probability = 764116 / 1079641

While I still have you here. Did you use intuition while reading the text or did you just use available formulas as guidance. I find it very hard to dissect probability word problems. Do you have any technic that I can use? Or Is there a book or article I can read to help me with probability?08/02/21

Intuition. probability = number of interesting outcomes / total number of outcomes, so you need to figure out a way of finding the interesting outcomes and the total outcomes in the problem. Try and think backwards - what helps you in the wording to find the number of interesting outcomes ? how will you use that information ? that's basically the process I followed here.08/03/21
