 and passes through the midpoint of the line segment joining the points P₁(−6, −4)

 and P₂(11, 14).

(-6,-4) and (11,14) have a midpoint that has coordinates that are the average of the coordinates of the given two point

x= (11-6)/2 = 5/2

y = (14-4)/2 = 5

midpoint is (5/2,5)

y=mx +b

5 =-8(5/2) + b

b = 5 + 20 = 25

y=-8x +25 is the line with slope = -8 through the midpoint
