9-1/(2x) has domain (-inf,0) U (0,2]
or maybe you meant 9-(1/2)x, if so, then domain is x< 2 or (-infinity, 2]
"9 -1/2x" means 9-1/(2x) but some people seem to write it to mean 9-(1/2)x especially on Wyzant problems, even though it's not what it means.
