- To simplify the exponent on the x we must consider powers and roots.
- Roots: In your problem this is the cube root, these go in the denominator of the exponent
- Powers: In your problem this is 8, these go in the numerator of the exponent
- For the x you will get x(power/root) = x(8/3)
- Left with 1/x(8/3)
- Next, it is simpler to put all exponents of x in the numerator
- All exponents in the denominator can be put in the numerator and multiplied by -1
- Example: 1/x2 = x-2
- Just do this to your fraction and you are set.
PS for fractions/quotients the numerator is the value on top and the denominator is the value on bottom.
