1) f(x) = x+5/x+1

2) f(3) = (3+5)/(3+1) = 8/4 = 2

3) ( x+5/x+1 - 2 / ( x - 3 )

4) ( x+5 - 2x -2 ) / [( x+1 )(x-3)] ------.> ( -x + 3 ) / [( x+1 )(x-3)] -----> -( x - 3 ) / [( x+1 )(x-3)]

after simplify you will have -1/ [( x+1 )]
