Determine the appropriate inference method for each setting below.

a) A biologist believes the offspring of certain gupples will have 25% red tails, 50% blue tails, and

25% orange tails. She test her theory with a sample of 23 offspring.

b) Are drivers in Florida better than in California? A survey asks randomly selected drivers from

each state whether or not they have been involved in a car accident in the last 5 years.

c) A new variety of orange is developed, and a sample of oranges is tested to see if their vitamin C

content is different than the 70 milligrams found in regular oranges.

d) A math teacher wants to estimate how long his students study each night. He asks ten randomly

selected students to record the number of minutes they study each night for a week.

e) Can the length of a giant sea clam be used to predict its shell thickness? A scatterplot of the

lengths and shell thickness of 14 giant sea cams shows a roughly linear relationship.
