a) The minimum is at ( 0.5, 4.75)
There is no maximum as it starts high on the left and ends high on the right.
b) Minimum is at (20,725), and there is no max because the shape is a parabola

asked 03/30/21Find the absolute maximum and minimum values of each function over the indicated interval, and indicate the x-values at which they occur. When no interval is specified, use the real number line (-∞, ∞).
a) f(x) = x4 – 2x2+5; [-3,2]
b) f(x) = 2x2 - 80x + 75

You need to graph each of these functions to be sure you see the ABSOLUTE max and min.
Of course, the local maxima and minima should occur where the derivative is 0...but they MAY NOT be the absolute max and min.
I will NOT do these problems for you...I have told you how to do them. If you do not know how to do them with this guidance, then you really need a lesson with a tutor!
