We can put a 1 in front of the parenthesis.
-4x - 1(-5) = -9 - 10
We can distribute the negative 1 to get rid of parenthesis. Two negatives gives us a positive. Don't forget to simplify the right side of the equation, since that side has like terms.
-4x + 5 = -19
Subtract 5 on both sides of equation.
-4x = -24
Divide by 4 on both sides of equation.
x = 6
