This is an algebra equation, where I have to solve the variable x. My question is, What is x in 5-2x+9-3-3x+2

5-2x+9-3=3x+2

put all x -es on one side, and all numbers on the other side. be careful about the +/- signals when moving them around:

5-2x+9-3-2=3x

5+9-3-2=3x+2x

9=5x

so x=9/5=1.8

Hi, Andrene.

The problem as written here is not an equation, meaning there is no equal sign, so you can't solve for x. You can combine like terms and get -5x+13 but I suspect that is not what you are looking for. Double-check your problem and see if one of the signs should have been an =.

It should read: What is x in 5-2x+9-3=3x+2
