Math, microeconomics or criminal justice
3/2p - 14 = p+13
multiply by 2p to eliminate the fraction
3 - 26p = 2p^2 + 26p
2p^2 +42p - 3 = 0
use the quadratic formula
p = -42/4 + or - (1/4)sqr(42^2 + 24) = -10 1/2 + or - (1/4)sqr1788 = -10 1/2 + or - 42.3 = -52.8 or 31.8
but you might get different answers depending on whether that first term
is (3/2)p, 3/(2p) or 3/(2p-14)
As written, best interpretation is 3/2p which leads to p = 31.8 or -52.8
but if you use (3/2)p then p = 54
if you use 3/(2p-14) you get another answer

Get all of the P's on one side and everything else on the other
(3/2)p - 14 = p + 13
+ 14 + 14
(3/2)p = p + 27
-p -p
Side work: (3/2)p - p = (3/2)p - (2/2)p = (1/2)p (1/2)p = 27
In order to get rid of a fraction muliplied by your varriable, multiply by the fractions reciprocal
(2/1)x(1/2)p = 27x(2/1)
p = 54
