Let me give you the boring definition before we talk about what that actually means.
A government is the system or group of people governing an organized community, generally a state.
Now, lets think about this!
There are several different types of government: federal, state and local.
Each of these types of government are run by elected officials who carry out the needs and wants of their constituents. The constituents are regular people, like you and me! We vote on election day for mayors, city council members, governors (state), State representatives, U.S Congress people, and the President. These people are elected due to whatever message or policies they pitched to the American people, accepting the responsibility to rule for the people and by the people!
