Let c = cost of a chair rental
Let t = cost of a table rental
6c+5t=53
2c+3t=29
Subtract 3 times the second equation from the first
-4t = -34
t = 8.50
Substitute into the 2nd equation
2c + 3(8.5) = 29
2c =3.5
c = 1.75
Each chair rents for $1.75 and each table rents for $8.50
