The rain is falling downwards vertically in the stationary frame of reference, You, however, are running forward. So to you, the rain appears to be slanting backwards as it falls. Hence, it's coming at you diagonally from the front. So where should you logically hold your umbrella so that it blocks the rain from hitting you?
If that's still unclear, suggest getting an umbrella, waiting 'till it's raining, and going out and trying.
