You can use the kinematic equation
X = X0 + V0T + 1/2AT2
It is convenient to use a coordinate system where the table top is zero and the positive direction is towards the ground. With this in mind we have the following values:
X = distance travelled by object when falling off table to the ground
X0 = 0 (the object sitting on the table top)
V0 = 0 (the object is at rest)
A = 9.8 m/s2 (acceleration of gravity on Earth)
T = 0.402 s
Putting this all together we have:
- X = 0m + (0m/s)(0.402s) + 1/2(9.8m/s2)(0.402s)2
- X = 0 + 0 + 0.792 m
- X = 0.792 m
The table is 0.792 meters high.
