What is the best prediction of the population in the year 2017? Round to the nearest whole number.

P(t) = P₀r^t, P₀ = 3700, r = 1 - 0.023 = 0.977, t is number of years from 2008. So, P = 3700·0.977^t.

In 2017 t = 2017 - 2008 = 9. P(9) = 3700·0.977⁹ = 3001

P(t) = 3700e^{-0.023(t-2008)}

P(2017) = 3700e^-0.023(9) = 3700(0.813) ≈ 3008
