(a) Shuffle a standard deck of 52

cards, draw a single card, and

record it. Return the card to the

deck, reshuffle, draw another card,

and record it. Repeat the process

at least 50 times. Use your experimental

results to estimate the

probability of drawing a queen

from the deck on each draw.

(b) For this experiment,

(i) describe what constitutes a simple event;

(ii) determine the required number of trials; and

(iii) describe the event that is of interest to the experimenter

The event of interest is the card is Queen...

There are 4 Queenes in the deck...

Prob(Queen) = 4/52 = 1/13

Expected Value = 50 * 1/13 = 50/13 = 3 + 11/13

3 or 4 queens in 50 trails
