Some nursing interventions for a patient with a UTI are..
- Explain the importance of antibiotic adherence
- Explain that the patient needs to take the medication as prescribed.
- Assess patient's urinary patterns, report any abnormalities to the doctor.
- Encourage fluid intake (2-3 liters) as tolerated by the patient
- Encourage voiding every two to three hours.
- explain the symptoms of a worsening infection to the patient and have the patient let you know if they experience any of these symptoms.
