How to find intervals

F(x)= x^4 -2x^3-4x^2+8x

(A)Determine the intervals where the second derivative is positive and where the second

derivative is negative.

(B) Use a graphing utility to make a plots of f and f00 for −4 ≤ x ≤ 4. Do not draw the

graphs by hand so that they are quantitatively accurate.

(C) Mark on your graph of f where the second derivative is positive and negative. Write a

sentence to explain what the sign of the second derivative indicates about the graph.

Mark M.

What is preventing you from deriving the second derivative?

Sharon C.

I have determined the second derivative but I don’t understand how to find the intervals.
