P = W + L + W + P = 2W + 2L where P=perimeter, W=width and L=length
We don't immediately know W or L, but we have been given information that helps us figure it out.
From the question, let L = x, an unknown number. And so W = x - 0.7m. And P = 52.6m.
Hence 52.6 = 2(x - 0.7) + 2x
=> 52.6 = 2x - 1.4 + 2x = 4x - 1.4
=> 4x = 54
=> x = 13.5
The rectangle has dimensions of 13.5m x 12.8m.
Double-check? 13.5 + 12.8 = 26.3 and 26.3 x 2 = 52.6 = correct! And what units? Meters.
